ICD-10 Codes for Liver Disease
The following table provides a list of ICD-10 diagnosis codes you may need when treating patients with liver disease. These codes are not intended to be promotional nor to suggest a use that is inconsistent with FDA-approved use. The list is not exhaustive; additional codes may apply. ICD-10 codes use 3 to 7 alpha and numeric characters. A code is invalid if it does not use the full number of characters required, including the seventh character (if applicable)
MASH= metabolic dysfunction–associated steatohepatitis; MASLD= metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease
These codes were collected in June, 2025; they may change.

Sometimes the patient’s health plan may require a prior authorization (PA) before covering a treatment for liver disease. It is important to provide the correct information to ensure there are no delays in treatment. While payer and health plan requirements can vary, these PA submission forms often include ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes and requests for information regarding the patient’s treatment and medical history.
Correct coding is the responsibility of the provider submitting the claim. Novo Nordisk does not make any representation or guarantee for reimbursement coverage. For additional codes, please refer to a coding resource.
